Ana Navarro Shades The View While Complaining About Trump Staffers' 'Apology Tours'

Suffice it to say Ana Navarro isn't pleased with the direction The View's co-host search has gone in recent months. On Thursday morning, Navarro inadvertently (or maybe not?) shaded the show for enabling ex-Trump officials, including fifth seat frontrunner Alyssa Farah Griffin, to "rehabilitate their image" after leaving the administration.

Navarro's not-so-subtle dig came during a discussion of CNN's Briana Keilar grilling Dr. Deborah Birx about her role in Trump's COVID response and her refusal to publicly counter the president's misinformation. "I'm incredibly glad that somebody like Briana Keilar held her feet to the fire," said Navarro, who also works as a CNN contributor. "Because I am so sick of Trump administration official after official after official after official trying to rewrite history, rehabilitate their image, go on an entire 'reinvent myself' tour, apology tour, and then getting a pass."

"The bottom line is, they were complicit with the ineptitude and abuses of power of that administration, and they should be held accountable!" she continued.

Sunny Hostin chimed in to say that these ex-Trump staffers aren't just getting a pass, but are "making money off of books," a point Navarro somewhat contested. "Well, I don't know how she's is gonna make money, 'cause I sure as hell ain't gonna buy it," said the guest co-host, before pointing out that Birx "lost her job and her credibility" after it was revealed that she violated CDC guidelines by hosting a multi-generational Thanksgiving gathering at her vacation home in Delaware.

"Not only was she sucking up to Trump to try to stay in her job because she liked the proximity to power," said Navarro. "She was also being hypocritical in not following the guidelines that her own department was putting out!"

Elsewhere on The View... In a scene straight out of American Horror Story, Sunny Hostin revealed that she was visited by the ghost of her late grandmother, who told her to stop grieving and live her life. "I was so devastated for days and days, I really couldn't get out of bed. I could not get out of bed. I couldn't believe she was gone," explained Hostin. "And one night, I know it. She came to me. She said, 'I'm okay, get out of bed. I'm okay.' I know I saw her. I saw like a vision of her."

Joy Behar was skeptical, but Hostin explained that her grandmother "looked like herself, but like an outline" of her figure. "She was there. Her energy was there," said the co-host. "My mother came to me the next day, and she had come to her as well. And told us to snap out of it. 'Get it together.' I haven't seen her since."
